EC Happenings and Update
Winter greetings to all our members.
The EC thought it would be a good idea to give a brief update of current projects and issues that the committee is dealing with and are going to be of interest to you all. This will become a monthly update following the regular EC meetings.
Sale of the club berth in Hidden Harbour: The sale of the berth has been held up while we wait for title clearance from ASIC. The purchaser is currently using the berth while this process with ASIC is being finalised. This should be settled within the next three months.
Berth 30: The new club berth is currently being leased over the winter to a boat from MYC. This gives the club valuable funds while the berth is not used by the club. We take possession again at the start of the summer season.
Start Boat: Replacing the start boat for something larger and better suited to our sailing operation is a long term aim now we have a suitable club berth. This will be a considerable financial outlay for the club, identifying and sourcing a suitable boat is an ongoing process.
Sail Peninsula 2026: The organising committee have been working hard on an exciting new format for the regatta that will involve both KB and OTB sailing. A chance for everyone to get together and celebrate sailing at Safety Beach. More details will come out in the enews in the near future.
Clubhouse and Yard: Reinstalling sound panels in the bar and dinning room is subject to a planning permit for the shire council. Hopefully this will not take too much longer and we can have them in place by the start of the summer season.
Entry security to the club needs to be upgraded. A door entry fob system to the club that improves security and also identifies members is under review.
The club at long last has NBN fibre to the building so we now have the luxury of high speed internet. This opens up many opportunities for online systems such as a weather station and webcam.
Plans for some changes to re arrange yard storage are underway, we want to maximise available storage space to encourage as many boats as possible to get involved in sailing OTB.
The Coastguard have now vacated the tower and cleared out their equipment. This space is now free for the club to re purpose to suit our needs. We are working with the tower team and sail committees to design the best working space to suit everyone.
Junior Sail Training: Following on from a very successful junior training program last season the OTB committee have a identified the need for a better junior two person boat to continue the learning pathway. The Pacer dinghy is the best and most affordable option at the moment. We have managed to purchase one Pacer so far and are on the lookout for two more.

Brass Monkey Winter Pursuit Series Race 4 on 29/06/25
(photos taken onboard 'Ninjo' SB2 skippered by owner Dave Phillips).
A fleet of 10 yachts - 7 SBSC & 3 MYC - raced in a 10 knot breeze on the Bay, and most under spinnaker. It was cold and wet with lumpy waves!
A good crowd back at the Club enjoyed homemade pea & ham soup and roast by Snooks Catering. With a few bevvies, Prize-giving, open fire place and incredible Bay views, it was a perfect Sunday!
