Howdy Doody OTB Gang !
Well the new season is rolling around faster than I would have believed possible, and your various committees have been hard at work making sure everything is ready to go for your sailing pleasure. So on that note, here is my usual letter to the masses asking you to send me your preferred dates for patrol boat duty. Even better, tell me dates that you are not available, to save any hassles. I’ve included the 24/25 sailing program for you peruse
HERE as well as some regatta dates so you can take these into consideration when picking your duty dates. This year we have some non sailing people that have very kindly put up their hand to help out on the RHIBs, but more on that later.
So for now, PLEASE get back to me ASAP with your dates as Bill Manning and I want to get the roster sorted.

Yard & Spar
Yardmaster duties are now being taken care of by Murray McNeill. Any enquiries on yard matters need to be sent to Murray at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. With only a few weeks to go before the start of the season, the spar locker needs to be sorted out. There are quite a few things in the shed that are taking up space and need to be returned to their owner. If you have forgotten to take your mast, sails or foils home from 4 years ago, now is the time to come and collect them. The alternative plan is not something we wish to use! Please contact Murray if you need access to your belongings before our working be on 6th October.

Winter Season Wrap Up
What a great Winter Season it has been on the water. Strong support for the growing Fun Friday Series, and a Brass Monkey Series where all 9 races were run. Due to this, please note the scheduled BMWS Resail this Sunday is not required. The club will therefore be closed this Sunday.
Off the water, a BIG thank you to all our ROs and tower assistants for kindly volunteering your time. We sadly lost our sailing friend, Andrew Arblaster late in the season, who had taken up the role of running the Fun Fridays all season. We will miss him dearly. I would also like to name all the other people who were in the tower over the season, some of whom stepped in as an emergency fill-in; Judy Champion, Elaine Nicholas, Amanda Malin, Dawn Clark, Dianne Jackson, Tim Bardon, Lynlee Coutts, Jann Wilson, Andrew Stocks, John Matheson. Thanks everyone - it can be hard work keeping a roster going, but your willingness to help out makes it so much easier!

Melbourne to Devonport ‘Rudder Cup’ (Friday 1 November)
What better way to spend your Melbourne Cup long weekend than competing in one of the most iconic events on the Australian sailing calendar! The Melbourne to Devonport ‘Rudder Cup’ is the oldest ocean race in Australia but features a youthful spirit and energy amongst competing crew, on full display during a warm reception hosted by Mersey Yacht Club. This race is also a qualifying event for the upcoming Melbourne to Hobart ‘Westcoaster’. Entries are now open! www.orcv.org.au/devonport
Melbourne to Hobart ‘Westcoaster’ (Friday 27 December)
The ORCV ‘Westcoaster’ is a legendary yacht race where tactics and sailing well can crown you as the race champion, regardless of boat size. Across the 435nm passage, yachts contend first with Bass Strait before taking on the wilderness and ruggedness of the West Coast of Tasmania and the long ocean swell of the Southern Ocean before turning towards the finish line and the shifting winds of the Derwent. For more than 50 years, the Westcoaster has provided sailors with a unique race full of tactical challenges. Entries are now open!
