OTB Winter Rostering
With dates already in the calendar for inter series in 2024, I’m hoping that we can better plan the roster to keep more boats sailing. As next year’s series approaches we may invite you to let us know when you plan music camps, getting wisdom teeth out, going overseas or breaking a leg! Of course some things aren’t planned, but it is always better racing and more fun with more boats racing. So where practical we will try to get duties out of the way for a skipper or crew so the rest of the series may be free to sail and enjoy rivalries.
Thanks to everyone who put their names down for duty and did their part. Special thanks to Neil & Lorraine, Chipper, Deirdre and Ross who volunteered but didn’t sail with us, and of course Geoff for results and sign on set up.
On the subject of appreciating race management, from our Race Officer can I pass on a request for a little more respect for our teams helping out each week. No RO likes to disappoint or leave anyone out by starting on time, but we owe it to everyone who does make the effort, to attempt to start as scheduled. We will do our best to provide fair racing for everyone. If we are late, we put the RO in a difficult position of drawing a line between who makes it and who doesn’t. I’m assured racing will start on time next week.
Sorry I missed this week, we can’t do everything, but for Mordy there was a better forecast, promise of more sabres and I was less likely to have any ego bruised!
We have one more session scheduled so I’ll be on the phone looking for a couple of volunteers to assist Ross and Deirdre, despite some juniors committing to Uni open days and others also absent.
As this series come to a close let’s look forward to a bigger better winter series next year with the consistent winds Mono keeps promising.
