Off The Beach News

Hi there OTB Gang.

Only four more weeks until the start of the new sailing season, can you believe it!! As promised, click this link 2023/24 Sailing Program Preliminary Roster for your viewing pleasure. Please have a good look, check out any dates that are significant to you and email or message me with your available, or more importantly, unavailable dates for rescue boat duties.
Remember, if all goes to plan you only have to do two duties for the season and possibly less. If you don't have a boat license yet, I strongly recommend attending Rob and Fiona's course in Frankston next week, so you are all sorted for the season.

I'll give it a week for replies then do a preliminary roster and send it out to give you all a chance for changes then we can post it on the website.

Cheers Everyone, looking forward to hearing from you all.
Pete Chippy, OTB Captain

Boat License Course

As the season nears closer, the club would like to encourage more members to obtain their boat license to assist with rescue boat duty. We all know that many hands make light work, but with some of our keen volunteers not having a license, our options for boat drivers can be restricted.

Club members Rob Campbell and Fiona Lowe work for Victorian Boat Training, and will be running a boat license course at Frankston Life Saving Club on Thursday 21st September. The course starts at 6pm and will take approx. 4 hours including testing. Once you have passed the tests, you will be handed a Transport Safety Victoria Certificate. You need to take this certificate to VicRoads to transfer into license. The cost of this course is usually $130, however all SBSC members will be given a $20 discount. Please follow the link to book yourself in to this course. Click this link Victorian Boat Training

Gotcha Mono!

Well here is the proof that our dear Rear Commodores boat has indeed touched the ground.  We have all been told many times that this has NEVER HAPPENED.

Photo Of The Week

Junior Club Captain Matt Whitaker is the proud new owner of a 49er sail boat. His smile shows how happy he is, and how keen he was to get in on the water. As seen here in less than 4 knots of wind on Monday afternoon, Matt is really looking for some strong breeze very soon.
