Midweek Madness Race #3

Congratulations to

1st Single Malt      Sue Turnbull
2nd   X to Sea Graeme Ainslie

We had six yachts start the race on Wednesday but only two had the patience, determination and perhaps a little madness to endure the very light conditions until a lovely sea breeze kicked in at about 6pm.  Congratulations to Sue Turnbull and the women's sailing group on Single Malt  who are this week's winners!
Thanks to Graeme and the X to Sea crew for also being a little mad and sticking it out to the end!

Fun Friday Pursuit Race

Congratulations to:

1st  Windsong Roy Ashcroft
2nd D'etente Ross Churcher
3rd     Marrakesh     Neil Hawker

What a great night for the last Friday Pursuit Race before Xmas.  We had 16 boats take to the water with three electing to run spinnakers.
There was a good turn out for the best dressed in Christmas attire which made the judging very tough for the tower team but in the end the crew from D'etente were clear winners with a good selection of santas, elves and reindeers on board!

Thank you to Martin & Piety Coad and the crew from Summer Breeze for a great job in the tower and to our sponsor Southern Mains & Drains for supporting this event. Finally the good sailing weather has arrived at Safety Beach with another great day on the water.  Good to see those kites flying on the way out to R1.

And how good was the Xmas Party back at the club.
Big thanks to the Social Committee, Snooks Catering and of course Santa and his elf for making this a really special evening for all.

Christmas Races

This year Safety Beach SC is being very well represented in both the Rolex Sydney to Hobart and the ORCV Melbourne to Devonport Race.

We have crews represented on three yachts, Maverick, Patriot and Protagonist, in the 75th anniversay of the Sydney to Hobart Race.
There will be around 160 yachts competing in this years race which is one of the biggest fleets for year.  The 628NM starts on Boxing Day so sure there will be many of us watching the start and checking on the progress of these yachts on their way down to Hobart
You can follow the fleet on the S2H HERE

S2HRS

We also have three yachts competing in this years ORCV Melbourne to Devonport Race being Rogue, Shimmer and Y Knot who will be competing in the first ocean race.  This195NM race starts at Portsea Pier on the 27th December at 14:30H so get down to the pier and wave our yachts on their way.  As soon as we have information on the ORCV tracker will let you know.
