Training at SBSC
Call for Expressions of Interest from the SBSC Training Committee
SBSC is a very proud volunteer run club. To support our volunteers, SBSC offer training for Members to assist their skill building to either continue or begin their volunteering with SBSC. The SBSC Training Committee are calling out to Members to assess the interest in the following courses we would to consider offering in the coming year.
1. OTB Sailing Coach Course - Instructor & Re-accreditation
This course aims to build the capacity and capability of Sailing Clubs by training and developing individual Sailing Coaches that will be responsible for coaching the next era of sailors. Focusing on coaching fundamentals, that can be adapted to any specific class, the online component of the course is 6-hours, followed by the 2.5 day face-to-face course.2. FIRST AID & CPR Course
2. First Aid & CPR Course
This is a full day course. Learn to provide practical first aid skills and how to operate the clubs new defibrillator machine. This Course will result in a National Credited Certificate.
3. Power Boat Licence Course
This is an 1 1/12 hour test session on Zoom after a 2-3 hour online videos, presentations and practice tests whenever you like at home. This Course will result in a Victorian power boat Licence.
4. Powerboat Handling Course
After obtaining your Victorian power boat Licence learn safe boating & boat handling. A 3 hour tuition provided by experienced, qualified skippers can take the stress out of your power boating.
For any members with a "Working with Children’s" Check, please could you forward an image of your cards to Katrina on the email below.
Make sure you get your required documents into us before the summer season starts.
Also if you have an AMS certificate these expired on the 30th September so they will need to be re-validated and a copy submitted
As soon as we get a better idea of when we can get back to racing we will publish the program and roster so keep watching this space for further announcements.
November 27th is likely to be the first date on the ORCV calendar after Victoria hits the 80% double dose vaccination mark. We plan to run two races, a short category 3 West Offshore Products Coastal Sprint and a longer race for those looking to qualify for a Hobart race.
