This week's racing:
Sure you will have received the message by now that we are sailing this Sunday and are all very happy to be out of lock-down again so get your crew's together and get out for a sail. The club will be open after racing so always good fun to head back to warm up a bit and enjoy some friendly banter.
Sunday 1st August - BMWS Pursuit Race
|First Warning Signal:||9:55H Pursuit Start with Extra's Optional|
|Tower Duty:||Ross Martin & John Matheson|
|Tower Support:||Elaine Nicholson, Mal Winder & Judy Champion|
Start sheet is posted on the club website at BMWS START SHEET. Please don't forget to let the SBSC tower know if you are intending to run a spinnaker when signing on for the race and if you do elect to run a kite please add 4-minutes to your nominated start time.
Well, we’re out of lock-down sort of. Enough to be allowed to hold a yacht race anyway! So with that in mind, get your winter woolies on, and maybe an extra kilo or two of ballast in the bottom of your boat and come for a sail this Sunday for round five (or is it four? I’ve lost count!) of our inaugural OTB winter series. Hasn’t it been a cracker! We’ve had everything - blowouts, lock-downs, no wind, more lock-downs. I even managed to get a furniture delivery from Sydney! We’ve had everything except enough sailing. So don’t miss this opportunity, it could be your last chance. And as I say every time, the weather will be perrrfect!
Same setup as the other weeks, 10.57 first warning and we’ll try for three races. Sign on via the Sailor App, alternatives will be available if you haven’t downloaded it yet. Don’t forget, masks are still compulsory inside and outside but you can take it off before you hit the water, you all know the drill !
You will be ably chaperoned on the course by the fabulous Geoff and Deirdre in the start boat and the always friendly Rob Fleming and Drew Mattingly in the rib. So no excuses - Be There!

Ritchies Loyalty Program
IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING COMMUNITY BENEFIT PAYMENTS!!
1st June 2021 - We are about to complete the transition to our new Ritchies Card Loyalty program.
At the cessation of our original Community Benefit card program we committed to making regular monthly payments to organisations based on historical data. Over the past 6 months we have commenced paying organisations either the average historical amount or the actual amount generated under the new system, whichever is the higher. The payment amounts based on historical data will cease when we pay the June monthly totals in early July 2021. Payment amounts will be made using the data generated from our new Ritchies Card from July 2021.
The payments we make to you from our new system will be entirely dependent on the number of members who have chosen your organisation as their preferred recipient. This is based on the new Ritchies Card members who joined the program since September 2020. It is very important that your organisation promotes the new Ritchies Card to your members to ensure that you are in a position to continue to receive payments from our community program.
It is easy for your members to join either using a phone and downloading the Ritchies Card App from the App store or Google Play, or by going online to www.ritchies.com.au/loyalty using a tablet or desk top computer. They can then pick up a physical card available from our friendly cashiers in-store, which they then link to their app or online account. Once they have set up their account they can then nominate your organisation.
If your payments from us have just started in the last couple of months, or recently increased, congratulations. This means that since we rolled out the new program your organisation is being supported by your community members, family, and friends. Just keep promoting the system to your supporters and watch your monthly payments grow.
Capturing 50 years. Can you help us, please?
We’re looking for stories, photos, video, prizes, imagery of the coastline or events and even clothing pieces that tell a story of your interaction with these classic races as we lead into the 50th King Island and 50th Westcoaster (Melbourne to Hobart) races in 2022.
