Coming up this weekend for your enjoyment is our “Winter Food and Wine Dinner” on Saturday 19th June, featuring a 5 course degustation menu showcasing local Vineyard, Quealy Wines. Meet the winemaker – Kathleen Quealy.
We are looking forward to bringing you a wonderful food and wine experience on another level again and a night to remember.

The great news is that we are back to sailing at SBSC this weekend. This will be the first of our Brass Monkey Winter Series Races. These races have a Pursuit Start and we normally sail the mid-length courses in our SI's. The really fun part of this series is that you are able to use extra's such as Spinnakers, Code 0's etc. If you DO intend to run any "Extra" sails then please notify the Safety Beach Tower when signing on for the race and add 4-minutes to your nominated starting time.

Yeah - we are back on the water and will be racing this Sunday 20th June. This is the first of our OTB Winter Series races and we look forward to seeing plenty of boats on the water. The first warning signal is at 10:57H so make sure you are there.

AGM - Saturday 31st July @ 4pm

This year we have scheduled the AGM for the afternoon of the Saturday 31 July, immediately preceding the Presentation Night. We hope to have a good turnout of members for the AGM and promise to follow it with an evening of fun and celebration at the Presentation Night.
Club Person & Junior Club Person of the Year Nominations
Even under the cloud of uncertainty we have found ourselves over the past eighteen months, Safety Beach Sailing Club has continued to thrive both on and off the water. As a volunteer organisation our success is entirely dependent on the contributions of so many people to the many facets of the Club.
Nominations for the Club Person and Junior Club Person of the year are an opportunity for you to nominate a member who you feel deserves to be recognised for their contribution over the last 12 months. Please put pen to paper and prepare your nomination(s) for who you feel deserves to be awarded SBSC Club Person and Junior Club Person for the 2020-2021 season.
June 19th - Winter Series Passage Race 1
A series of four longer passage races to popular destinations of Blairgowrie and Geelong. The first race of the series starts off RBYC on June 19th, with an on water flare practice exercise open for only those who are part of race 1. Should restrictions not permit this race, you can take a credit towards race 3 or refund.

Online Course - Weather for Sailors
These courses provide a solid foundation in marine weather; suitable for sailors, racers and cruisers. Robin Hewitt and Andrew Roberts, who are seasoned sailors and knowledgeable on weather, will lead you through weather observations, forecasting, and finding the right forecasting advice from the vast array of modern resources. Online Course - Navigation Fundamentals
This course provides you will an introduction to basic navigation skills required for safe yachting in coastal water.
Over two nights, you will learn how to interpret charts, identify lights, leads and common hazards, calculate bearings and plot positions and other key components. These courses are online and trainer lead learn more or book here https://www.orcv.org.au/training/navigation
New Racing Rules of Sailing
The Chair of the Victorian Racing Rules Officials Committee, Darren Eger will provide a presentation on the updated Racing Rules of Sailing. World Sailing’s updated Racing Rules of Sailing came into effect on 1st January 2021 and will govern the sport for 4 years; until December 31st 2024.
