From the Rear

Just when you think there is zip for me to contribute to e-news due to the ongoing Covid situation, along come the Victorian Hobie Association with a request Safety Beach SC host their 2021 State titles over the Labour Day long week end in March. At this stage there is nothing more to report until the OTB Sailing Committee meeting next week to put our proposal together. I will be putting every bit of effort into securing this event as it will create a lot of interest through movement and colour, and hopefully a few dollars. As it is only 3 weeks after Sail Peninsula it truly would demonstrate Safety Beach Sailing Club is a club for all sailing enthusiasts.

Your OTB and Executive Committee continue to work on a system to remind OTB sailors they are rostered for duty.  It uses Revsport which the club uses to store members information and has been used by the Keel Boats for the past 12 months. In short, approximately a week before your rostered duty day you will receive an email or text massage notifying you of your duty and role. Should you not be able to make your duty day it will provide you a suitable amount of time for you to organise a replacement.

Great to see some of our Keelboat owners taking advantage of calm seas to enjoy a pleasant cruise last Sunday. Hopefully in the near future we will see more of you on the water enjoying everything Safety Beach Sailing Club has to offer.

Important changes to how the “NEW” Ritchies Card can assist Safety Beach SC

As of the 14th October if you hold a current Ritchies Community Benefit Program it is no longer valid and you will need to transition to the new Ritchies App and Ritchies card.  The Community Benefit Program will transition to a new Ritchies Card App, available from the App store or Google Play, and will issue new physical cards (Ritchies Card) available free from any participating Ritchies Store.

Shoppers will be required to download the App, or apply on line at, and then direct your financial support to Safety Beach Sailing Club.  Having just been through the process it is really easy to do.  If you would rather have Ritchies Card to use just ask the cashier when you next visit and you can then link this card to you account.

At this stage the club earns around $40 per month through the current program but with more of our members being local to the area and also enjoy shopping at their local Ritchies it is an easy way to direct a bit more funding to our club.  Please get on board and support the club.
