The Safety Beach Sailing Club is now in its 51st year and has recently celebrated the opening of a brand new facility. The club received a 2 million dollar facelift and has entered a new phase in the club’s history. Located between the picturesque Arthurs Seat and Mount Martha, at the mouth of the new Martha Cove Marina, the new facility strikes a wonderful pose and does justice to the development surrounding it.
The club is now striving to become the premier yacht club on the Mornington Peninsula, whilst striving to be an integral part of the Safety Beach community landscape. The club offers a safe, friendly environment for young families, with beautiful swimming water and sensational beach, with excellent access and car-parking. Wonderful clubhouse facilities and amenities with in-house caterer, ensures all family members will be catered for.
The club now boasts an impressive social calendar of events, with family friendly pricing, plus the opportunity to still BYO your own food to BBQ or, pay a little more and have our caterer do all the work.
After a hard day on the water, enjoy the view that hasn’t changed in centuries from our balconies and enjoy a cold beverage, while you take it all in and watch the water traffic sail across the tunnel to their berths.
The club has a young and enthusiastic committee, determined to ensure that member’s needs are met in a more creative and unique way. In the coming season, the sailing school will become accredited and offer courses to novices and beginners. Junior sailors can sail in their own series, even if they’re just learning, as experienced sailors are always on hand to lend some advice.
The club is becoming an integral part of the yachting community, with many associations and classes using the Martha Cove Marina as a destination point, and enjoying a meal at the club. Recently the Multihull Association started their passage race to Docklands at the club and enjoyed a meal and breakfast put on by the caterer, and let the club start their Skandia Race Week off in style.
The Couta Boat Association also staged a passage race from Sorrento to Martha Cove, sailed 2 heats of their State Titles and enjoyed the hospitality of Safety Beach Sailing Club members.
The annual Peninsula Aquafest Regatta continued its rise to being a regatta not to miss in early January, with over 100 boats from keelboats to minnows enjoying another spectacular weekend of racing, and the International 29er fleet participated in the Australian Titles at the club over the Christmas period, as a prelude to their World Titles.
